Pain of Regret Healing.png

Painful photo? YES as the pain of regret IS very painful. Everything I have learned from BEING a parent and everything I have learned from the messages of apology that come through from loved one’s in eternal life to their children still living has taught me: there is no such thing as a perfect parent. And there is no such thing as a perfect human being. At least I have never met such a unique creature. ( In fact those parading around as perfect spiritual guru’s frighten me the most.)

SOOOOOOOO, should we stop TRYING because we can’t be perfect? If you say “yes” to that –  it is the same as being on a healthy diet, having something not so healthy to eat and then deciding all is lost so you might as well food binge for the next month.

FACE THE PAIN OF REGRET: Think about that ONE DAY that changed your whole life, at least it seemed like it did. You made a mistake. If only you could take that day back. The movie of that day plays over and over in your mind, year after year. This was a day you made a mistake as a parent.  There may have been other mistakes on other days, but this one day looms large on the horizon of your visions of the mistakes you made.

Do those mistakes matter now? Of course they matter now, but if you have faced your mistakes, have become a more balanced person, apologized for your mistakes, then it is high time that you FORGIVE YOURSELF even if you are not forgiven by others.

Were your parents perfect? Most likely not. Did they make mistakes that you have never forgiven them for in your heart. (It goes without saying that if you have been brutally abused you may not be able to forgive.)  But for the better part of us who had parents that ranged from close to perfect to emotionally abusive due to untreated mental illness or personality disorders: we have parents who loved us but who make mistakes that changed our lives in the same way that our mistakes changed the lives of our children.  It is amazing how we begin to understand and forgive the mistakes of our parents as we begin to understand our own mistakes AS parents.

As a medium I can tell many stories about the loved ones who come through in readings with very specific apologies to their living children. And as these loved ones in spirit are able to apologize it appears to me that they are able to move on in the never ending spiritual growth in Eternal Life.

YOU reading this, are still living and so you have the opportunity to apologize NOW.  You have the chance to forgive yourself NOW.

If you have children who have reached adulthood, have they been perfect children? Have they always treated you and other members of the family well? Most likely they have not as they are human beings like the rest of us and they are not perfect. As you forgive yourself for not being perfect, you may begin to forgive not only your parents, but your children.

And if your grown children are parents, most likely they will not become perfect parents as they are human beings and there are no perfect human beings.

There are colleagues in my field who believe that every thing we do, we do for the reason of learning, and everything that happens is meant to happen. I am not able to go along with that idea, and from my perspective there is absolutely no way to prove that concept. When someone is brutally abused I cannot accept that this was “meant to be.”

What I do accept is that we do not have control over all that happens in life. What we have more control over is how we respond to what happens.  And if we have behaved badly it was not written someplace in eternity that we were meant to behave badly. We must face our actions, cope with our regret, change our behaviors, and eventually forgive ourselves.  And if others have hurt us, depending on the severity of the circumstances, we need to find our way to forgiveness as much as we possibly can.

Let us focus on forgiving ourselves, and forgiving others. And while facing the regret, also focus on facing the reality that no one is perfect: I am not perfect, you are not perfect, they are not perfect. No one is perfect. Accepting our imperfect reality brings HEALING.

DEAR READERS: This post cannot possibly contain all of the many stories about different kinds of mistakes: mistakes we have made ourselves and the many ways we have suffered from the mistakes made by others.  Not even a whole book could include all of the mistakes human beings make. The topic of mistakes can be overwhelming, but we can make a start by accepting who we are as human beings and work to become better people making less mistakes.

I wrote this book because many people have called and emailed me about spiritual experiences they are having. Or the loved ones of “emerging psychics” got in touch with me as they were either excited or scared to death by the experiences these emerging psychics were having.  I KNOW that this book will be of great help to anyone having psychic or mediumistic experiences. Click on the book cover, and you will be linked to Amazon where you can read all about this book.

Hope you read it. I wish someone had written this book for me 40 years ago. I could have used it and saved years of anxiety over my psychic gift.

These days too many of us depend on convenience foods, and do not make time to engage in the art of cooking.  I say “art” as cooking IS an art.  Not being one to like recipes, I find it fun to be creative and discover what dishes I can make with whatever food is around.  Cooking is THE most important thing that we can to do stay healthy.  You know the old expression “You are what you eat!” That is true.

Any favorite recipes to share?

A Magic Moment September 18, 2011

Thirty years ago my back was hurting: the pain was awful. It did not seem like there was anything I could do. I received great treatment and got better. During that hard time, I realized how much I value moving.  After being unable to move much at all for a while, one day I was strong enough to go into the supermarket and push the cart myself: tears of joy flowed down my cheeks.

Sometimes we do not realize the value of something until we lose it.  Ever since that back injury years ago, exercise has been one of the priorities of my life.  I am grateful for each day that I can exercise.   One of my relatives had a very serious accident and while her movement is limited, she values the movement she does have, and through disciplined exercised has done many things in her life that many thought she could never do.  She simply did not give in. She struggled and is winning the battle.

Difficulties in life sometimes bring us Magic Moments: those rare moments when we value life in a way we never have before.

Reach High.   Move towards the goals in life most important.  Make the effort.  These actions will bring contentment and peace.  We do not feel happy within when we know that we are not giving our all to do the things we feel we are meant to do.

Take risks, look within, pray for Divine Guidance as you map out your schedule.  Reach high, spend time with friends that are positive. Help those not so positive but protect yourself from their negativity. Reach high. Find your best self. Reach high.

Getting Through the Tough Times September 11, 2011

You have not seen me for awhile because illness in the family has kept me from my usual writing: writing that I hope you enjoy reading, and that quite frankly I need to do in order to feel the best I can feel. Writing for me is an exploration of what is going on within, and I enjoy sharing all that with you!!!!  The patients are doing well now and so I am back at the computer keyboard.

When people you love are ill and in physical danger you realize more than ever how fragile life is and that anything can happen to any of us at any moment.  This realization can either lead you into a life of fear, or serve as a reminder that each day is precious and must be lived to the fullest.  In other words, when faced with tough times, you and I can either take the high road or the low road.  We each have a choice.

One of the things that I find most helpful during tough times is to read spiritual literature that I love.   For me, reading the works of  Sri Aurobindo and the Mother are extremely helpful.   (They are the founders of the Sri Aurobindo Society in Pondicherry, India)

Here is a quote that I find particularly helpful:

An aimless life is always a miserable life. Every one of you should have an aim. But do not forget that on the quality of your aim will depend the quality of your life.

Your aim should be high and wide, generous and disinterested; this will make your life precious to yourself and to others.

But whatever your ideal, it cannot be perfectly realised unless you have realised perfection in yourself.

– The Mother [CWMCE, 12:3]

When I am feeling down and dealing with hardship, it is more helpful for me to pick myself up and accept the challenge.  I know that if I give into feeling sorry for myself it will be a downhill experience instead of an uphill adventure.  How can I use the word “adventure?”  That seems like a strange word to use when writing about going through very difficult times.  But when pushed into a difficult experience, I find myself facing things I have never faced before.  I have thoughts and feelings that are new.  I also feel the intense  support of the world of spirit around me and these spiritual vibrations send me into spiritual realms I have never visited before.  While I am certainly not having fun as I struggle, I do find myself on an adventure as I am in a new territory.

As the Mother in her words remind me: “do not forget that on the quality of your aim will depend the quality of your life.”  These words help me to take the high road rather than the low.   I am walking on a tight rope and the way I move each moment now is life changing. I will either keep my balance or fall. I prefer to keep my balance and find the new life that is evolving out of this adventure.

He Still Calls Me a Girl July 23, 2011

A CONVERSATION ON GYM TRACK:  “You are both an inspiration to me” I said.  “Never give up” this elderly woman told me.  And her husband  said ” I been chasing this girl around for 73 years, and I still can’t keep up with her.” She replied “He still calls me a girl.”

This conversation took place on the indoor track at the gym.  A woman on a walker with wheels, went slowly around the track.  About ten feet behind her, a man walked even more slowly while holding onto the railing around the track.  At one point the man caught up with the woman, and we all left the track together.  I told the elderly couple that they were an inspiration to me and that I wanted to be like them when I “grew up.”

Three Laughs Best Medicine April 12, 2011

Want to feel better? Laugh. Here are three best laughs that can compete with any other kinds of treatment you may be receiving.  One: search your memory for the time you made the most embarrassing mistake. Maybe you forgot to wear a slip, or you dropped the cherry pie on the floor when you entered your mother in law’s house. What ever it was, remember it and laugh.  Two: Watch a TV show where they show funny home videos.  You will watch some of the best comedy on TV. Watch and laugh.  Three:  Sit outside in the patio of a coffee shop, or get a window seat inside and watch the people on the street. You will see some of the most dreadful outfits you ever saw, and you will see people behaving in ways that will make you want to grin. Watch and laugh.

There is nothing like a good laugh to ease tension, get over whatever you are obsessing about, and move forward in your life.  Life is short. Do not take it too seriously.  Laugh!

Tolle Tells It As It IS April 3, 2011

Reflect on this quote by Eckhart Tolle: “Find the “narrow gate that leads to life.” It is called Now. Narrow your life down to this moment. Your life situation may be full of problems–most life situations are–but find out of you have any problems at this moment. Not tomorrow or in ten minutes, but now.  Do you have a problem now?”

What INCREDIBLE advice, and something we have all thought about, but perhaps not in exactly the way Tolle has put it.

Most of the time, we do NOT have a problem at the time, or in this moment. While our desk may be piled high with bills, as we sip our coffee and get ready to pay bills, we do NOT have a problem in this moment, unless we choose to flood our minds with unhappiness about writing the checks. In fact, as we write the checks we do not have a problem. We are simply writing checks.  YES, having a lot of bills IS a problem if we are short on funds to pay all of them, but as we work through the problem, moment to moment, we can still enjoy life unless we choose to be in a bad mood.

Tolle’s words are worth reading every day.  Many of us who worry and fret too much could become much happier people, right now!

Control Over Time March 28, 2011

What a waste of time, trying to have control OVER time. Time has its own way ultimately, and as much as we would like to control the universe, we ultimately can only have control over the actions we take and how we respond to that which is put in our path.

As a psychic medium, I am aware of how many people want to believe that everything is destined in their life.  I know there are psychics who may believe that, but there is nothing that I have ever experienced as a psychic medium that has led me to believe that everything that happens is destined.  What I do see is that things happen in life, and each one of us has a choice as to how we respond.  We also have a great deal of choice as we take actions. We have free will and can have a huge influence on the quality of our lives.

Spirit can guide us and help us to create the life we want, but in my perception, cannot control everything that happens.
