Being Older Is……. March 28, 2010

Posted by Carole Lynne in All About Spirit, Grief, Uncategorized.

Being older is having your husband come in the door and tell you a good friend has just died, while your nine year old grand child tugs on your shirt and complains that the DVD player is not working.

Being older is calling your friends to tell them about “our good friend” who has just died, while enthusiastically packing to go visit another friend who is in her eighties.

Being older is learning to accept that almost every week and sometimes every day you will hear about another loved one who has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness.

Being older is praying for your friends while you walk slowly around the track at your health club.

Being older is having the kids over for dinner and not telling them about all your friends who are ill and who have died, so that you can have an enjoyable evening with your children.

Being older is knowing that life is not forever, and that we must cherish each day.

This blog post is dedicated to our good friend Jim who has just died.
