Darn It! I Should Have Followed My Gut Reaction February 15, 2010

When we go against our first gut reaction we are often mad at our selves later.  “Darn it, I knew I should have followed my gut reaction” we cry in vain!

Why is it that we are so ready to listen to the opinions of others, and sometimes so resistent to listening to the inner voice that is part of each one of us?

We have all had the experience of having a feeling in the pit of the stomach that tells us whether a situation is a “go” or “no go.”  We have all had instant reactions to people we should stay away from, only to allow our minds to tell us “that person is ok, really. ”

Think of all the stomach aches we could avoid if we only paid attention to that voice that says “don’t eat pizza today and wait for another day.”  Think about all the heart aches we could have avoided if we paid attention to that voice that says “do not get involved with this person as your feelings are going to be hurt badly.”

Of course there are exceptions and sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between when our fear and anxiety are speaking to us, and when we are hearing wisdom from the inner voice.  Many a time, we have had a feeling we should not get on an airplane, only to have the flight land safely AND on time!  Many a time we have felt that we would not have a good time at a party, and we have had the time of our lives.

So how can we learn to tell the difference between a true message from the inner voice which is connected to Divine consciousness, and our own fear and anxiety that comes from the personality level of ourselves? The answer is “practice, practice, practice.”

I suggest working with my book (with enclosed CD) called “Consult Your Inner Psychic.”  This book is a spiritual exercise for those who want to practice getting in touch with their intuitive guidance.  This exercise has changed my life and the life of some of my clients. Give it a try.
