Surfing the 2009 Waves December 29, 2009

2009 brought many challenges to people around the world, as the financial markets collapsed and caused problematic ripples around the world.  We have a choice: we can either reap the benefits we have received during 2009 and be grateful or we can moan and groan and worry.

While it goes without saying that we have compassion for all those who are in deeper financial need, we can also reap the benefits of the love we see being shared in families as they work together to solve financial problems.  In other words, we can see the glass half empty or half full.

While charities around the world lost alot of money, we can reap the benefits as many people, who were not conscious of those who are staving and living in poverty, become aware and make decisions to give more money and volunteer time to organizations who help the needy.

No one likes pain, loss and lack of success.  But our mothers taught us that when you get lemons you make lemonade.   This is the time to add some sweetness to our thoughts and come out feeling good about life again.

The challenges in our world roll in like huge waves and sometimes the waves feel almost too big to ride, unless you happen to be a surfer who is up to the challenge and is thrilled and excited that the big wave is coming soon.  Let’s all pretend we are champion surfers and can handle any wave that comes our way.  Who knows, riding the next wave may be the high point in life!

As we leave 2009 let’s see the glass half full.   And let’s be incredible surfers as we ride into 2010.
